Why was STEP ONE created? STEP ONE was created to provide clients with the freedom and flexibility to create the change they want in their home/small business with budgetary and time control.
How do you understand design needs of clients if you have never met them? This is why we have clients fill out a questionnaire and send us inspirational images and such. The more information a client sends us, the better we understand their needs, wants, likes, and dislikes.
Can some existing furniture and accessories be incorporated in the new design? Of course! We like to call this Re-Use, Re-Purpose, Rejoice! We understand the importance behind some treasured pieces or budgets that don’t allow for all new pieces, we ask that you send photos of these pieces so we know how to incorporate them into the new design.
How much communication is their during the design process? We want to make sure we understand exactly what you want and need so communication is key in the beginning. Also, at first we create 2 design concepts that you pick from and 2 color schemes that you pick from, that we then develop into your final design. After this initial phase is complete, you can have as much communication or as little as your would like!
When should payment be submitted? At the beginning, we can’t begin creating a custom new design for you until payment is received in full.
When will I receive my STEP ONE box? Your beautiful black STEP ONE box filled with your custom design materials should arrive within 3-5 short weeks after we have received your measurements and photos.
What if I get into the project and decide I can’t do it myself, what are the options for me? We provide you with information on how to hire the jobs out yourself, hire another designer or hire us to do it for you, we call this STEP TWO.
What exactly is included in the STEP ONE box? A custom concept/style board showing images, sketches, etc. to be used for design inspiration. Custom furniture design and layout boards that illustrate appropriate uses of existing furniture to be reused, pictures of suggested furniture purchases, and suggested accessories and basic furniture layouts for your space. Two portable sample collections, one with pictures, examples and all the information and shopping lists needed for furnishings, and one with paint color information, fabric suggestions, and completed details of the project. Also, a STEP ONE book which includes all design information needed and step-by-step instructions on how to complete the job yourself or hire contractors.
What is STEP TWO? STEP TWO is the completion and installation of the project. At this point, you can become a full service client of DESIGN APPLIED, take your project on as a do-it-yourself project, or hire your own contractors directly.
